CLAIRE ADDISON MIZE was born August 31, 2008 on her due date! She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long. She is completely healthy and has extremely long arms, legs, fingers and toes (unlike her Momma). She also has her Daddy's hair and lips!
Mom started having her first few contractions about 11 p.m. on the 30th. By 2 am it was apparent Miss Claire was on her way! We arrived at the hospital by 3 am (because Momma had to take another bath and do some laundry). The triage RN and hospital staff was just as surprised as I was that I was already dilated 9 cm on arrival!!! The whirlwind began for the staff to get me ready for delivery and my sweet Dr. headed to the hospital hoping he would make it time to deliver Claire. I was able to get my epidural and enjoy relaxing for about 2 hours before time to do the hard work. Thanks to a wonderful anesthesiologist the hard work was a breeze!!!! I could move my legs but not feel a thing!! What a HUGE blessing!! We had a great labor and delivery RN who made the whole experience so much fun. She kept us laughing!!
One of my favorite memories of Claire's birth is her response to her Daddy. The nurse took her from my stomach to finish drying her off and assess her. Claire's was crying (the most beautiful sound by the way) and Daddy said "Claire, it's ok." Claire immediately stopped crying and turned her head towards his voice. It was so sweet!!!
