We have been trying to do some outdoor activities that we enjoy, before the summer heat arrives. We headed back to the zoo one morning and found the parking lot full of school buses (I stopped counting at 32). It turned out to be one of our best trips because some of our favorite animals were up and active, instead of napping. We got to watch the tiger roam around and even come right up to the glass to check out all the kids admiring him.
Daddy's favorite animal, the cheetah, decided to get up and walk for us (thanks to the large group of kids yelling "wake up"). I was so glad they were there to arouse them so Shane and Claire could get a good look. One of the cheetahs even came up to the fence and got face to face with Claire and Daddy. I think Daddy was even more excited than Claire.
Claire's favorite part of visiting the zoo is seeing all the primates. They were very talkative this trip and Claire enjoyed imitating them. Monkey see, monkey do!
The giraffes put on quite a show for us. They would run laps around their habitat which thoroughly excited Claire. Then they would come right up to the fence where we were observing, and lean their long necks toward us. We were hoping for a giraffe kiss...maybe next time.
